New work by local artist Sandra Beck that enters fresh territory in terms of medium, style and content. Current pieces represent her first time working on wood, and also her first time working abstractly. She finds that drawing on wood further inspires creative spontaneity and and an abstract approach facilitates truer and deeper expression.

Sandra Beck grew up in Scituate, Massachusetts, attended the Art Students League in New York City, and also Hunter College where she received a degree in Film History, Theory and Criticism. She also earned an MFA in Creative Writing at Eastern Washington University in Washington state. A person who loves to travel, to learn about different cultures and study languages, Sandra has visited 52 countries. Currently, she resides in Portland, Maine, where she is working on a book project of poems and drawings, entitled, “The ABCs of Lunacy.”
