CANCELLED: June 30: Rockabilly with Ruby Rae

Cancelled: We are sad to report that Ruby Rae’s transport to Portland has broken down and she will not be able to play tonight. We’ll keep you updated on any further shows.

New York City musician Ruby Rae comes to Portland and Dobra Tea for her first time. With influences from Loretta Lynn, Townes Van Zandt, Cat Power, Cocteau Twins, Lucinda Williams, and Mazzy Star, among others, Ruby Rae’s sound is unique, and found in rock and roll’s honky-tonk roots.

From her website:

“Ruby Rae’s debut release title “Double Feature” could easily be mistaken for a night at the local drive-in when rock’n'roll still flirted with its honky-tonk roots. Her songs “It Came from the Swamp” and “Invisible Man” showcase country inflected instrumentation paired with heartfelt and sinister stories of guns, love, and loneliness. Ruby Rae plays with some amazing people including Ed Coleman, Ed Donahue, Olivia Mancini, Leland Sundries, Kristen Forbes, & Jaime Fallon.”

A hoppin’ night in the tearoom! Listen to clips from soundcloud.

Free, tips appreciated.
